This Bible is Synthetic Leather. The One New Man Bible brings a greater understanding of and appreciation for the power given to believers for their daily walk. The Jewish Roots of Christianity come to life in The One New Man Bible. Hebrew is a very expressive language, so this translation brings out much of the power that has commonly been omitted from traditional English translations. Ephesians 214.For He is our peace, the One Who has made both things into one and Who has loosed the dividing wall of the fence, cause of the enmity to His flesh, 15. by His nullifying the tradition of the commandments by decrees, so that He could create the two, Jewish and non-Jewish, into One New Man, establishing peace 16. so He could reconcile both in one body to God through the cross, as God killed their enmity by means of Y shua. 17. And when He came He proclaimed the Good News of peace to you, to those far away, and peace to those near 18. because through Him we both have the introduction to the Father by means of one Spirit. 19. Therefore then, you are no longer aliens and strangers, but you are fellow citizens of the saints and members of the household of God, 20. building upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Messiah Y shua being His cornerstone, 21. in Whom the whole building being constructed is being fit together into a holy sanctuary in the Lord, 22. and in Whom you are built together into a habitation of God by the Spirit. This passage, a letter originally written to Gentiles and former heathens, tells us that all are to worship the Living God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, The King of the Universe, the God Who became flesh and walked among us. The One New Man Bible will help the Church understand and appreciate its Jewish Roots, and finally recognize that Y shua (Jesus) was born Jewish, that He grew up Jewish, and that He is the same today as He was then. (Hebrews 138) Readers will understand that the Scriptures Y'shua, and every New Testament author, embraced (irreverently called Old Testament by the Church) are alive and relevant for believers today. As a proof of God s perfect plan for His perfect Word, readers will discover that Matthew flows, as if a continuous stream, out of the book of Chronicles. Only God could have done this! The One New Man Bible has been written to help present day believers move toward God s perfect plan to create One New Man, bringing Jewish and non-Jewish together. The Hebrew Scriptures are in the traditional Jewish book order, and although different from the Christian book order, it is easy to learn the sequence. This Bible is very easy to read through, Genesis to Revelation. Scripture translated with the power and meaning of the original language intact comes alive! One early surprise is in Genesis 121 when God does not say Go to Abram, but Get yourself out of here! Later He tells Moses to order Pharaoh to Send My people away! instead of pleading Let My people go. These passages are the literal translation from the Hebrew. The One New Man Bible includes more than 4,000 footnotes and the massive one hundred seventy page Glossary describes various first century Jewish customs and explains Hebrew Scriptures, such as Leviticus 14, which on the surface is about cleansing a leper, but has a much deeper meaning. Many Jewish sources were studied to bring the Scriptures to life, including many modern as well as ancient Jewish commentaries. Those studies bring real depth to the subjects in the Glossary, but even more importantly they give insight into the thinking of the New Testament authors, the Apostles, and especially Y'shua. It is important for those of us reading in the twenty-first century to understand what a word or expression meant to those who wrote the passages in Bible times.

I received my One New Man Bible Thursday, September 4, 2014, which was five months ago. I refrained from posting a review until I had developed a well-learned opinion on the subject. Before I begin the review, however, I would like to give a brief background into my life, so that you can look through my own eyes and see how I developed my opinion.

I am a Messianic Torah-Observant follower of Yeshua Messiah (also known as Netzarim). Before I came to the true faith, I was an Apostolic Pentecostal Christian who attended a Southern Baptist Church for a few years. I also attended various others including Lutheran, Church of Christ, and Assemblies of God. I came to the faith by reading articles on The Refiner's Fire and by watching videos by Torah-teacher Paul Nisson.

I have, in my possession, three book cases of Bible study helps and Bible's (with a very few non-biblical books). I have many study Bibles, obviously, along with many different commentaries and supplemental books (i.e., Lexicons, interlinear Bible's, historical backgrounds to various books of the Tanakh and Renewed Covenant). I am not saying this to brag, as it doesn't matter how many shelves of books one may have - if we do not practice it, we are collecting books in vain and have missed the truth.

With that being said, one day Paul Nisson did an interview with William (Bill) Morford about his new translation. Paul was very excited about the translation and said it is by far his favorite. He recommends this translation above everyone else's - to say that he loves this translation would be an understatement. Therefore, seeing his passion for this translation, I decided to order it. It came in the mail very fast. Thus begins the journey in this translation.

At first glance, the Bible's cover was very attractive. It is soft and very durable. The pages are thin and aren't the best quality that I am used to, but that was perfectly fine with me. It's a good-looking Bible anyone would be proud to have on their bookshelves. Glancing inside, I was thankful that the size of the font isn't so small that you cannot read it - it's very readable, unlike some study Bible's which you have to bend down a bit to read. The layout is not columned - which is nice for a change. I have always been used to the column formats, but most of my Messianic translations aren't in that format - it's more comfortable, in my opinion. The one thing I must complain about is the fact that on the left pages is "ONE NEW MAN BIBLE" rather than the actual book. I prefer to have the title of the book on each page, as it makes for easy navigation, along with the chapter that begins on that page.

The Glossary is very extensive and very eye-opening. There are a number of things I've learned in the glossary that I haven't learned, at least in such in-depth explanations as this one gives, in other study Bible's (i.e., how YHWH [the Sacred Name of God, pronounced Yahweh] erases our sins and they are no more - literally). It has so many different topics that I've actually been lost within its pages learning one topic after another - the wealth of knowledge in the glossary is actually breath-taking (similar to my experience with the ESV Study Bible, although I disagree vehemently with its doctrines). The footnotes, too, are a wealth of knowledge in themselves. They are like miniature articles about a given subject and provide very interesting facts.

Now, as to the text itself, where should I begin? At first, I was very disappointed. This Bible wasn't at all what I thought it would be. It was completely different than, literally, all of my other Bible's that I own. I've yet to see another Bible that has some of the wordings that this one does. For example, the "Lord's Prayer" is very off-putting at first. No other literal translation has that rendering - not a single one. Because of this, I stopped using this Bible immediately and returned to reading my favorite translations among my small library.

After four and a half to five months (beginning a few days ago), I was watching a Paul Nission interview with William Morford - he is coming out with another edition around May 2015. I seen how Paul was so zealous about this translation, so, with a heavy heart and sincerely wanting to read this Bible as he did - I wanted to see what he seen in it -, I decided to give it another try. Again, the text was often off-putting, but I pushed through and actually, the Bible's renderings began to grow on me. I am by no means a Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek scholar, so I continued reading this translation. It is still awkward for me because I am very used to the wording of the regular translations I use. This translation seems to set more of a powerful-text than a pleading one. For example, when YHWH tells Abraham to leave, He says, "Get yourself out!" It's more forceful and has power behind the words. Another example would be when YHWH tells Joshua (Y'hoshua) to not fear, in this translation He says, "Do not be in awe!" in bold letters - which William (Bill) Morford explains that when there is bold letters, God is saying, "Don't you dare even let it enter your mind!" It really brings more power in the text than some translations I own.

Is the text accurate, however? I would say yes, I would trust reading this Bible, even though I am not used to it at all. Would I buy this again? Of course. If this translation ever grows on me to the point to where I can read it - without having to switch - a week or two straight, I might buy the new edition when it comes out.

What's the conclusion, then? It's a powerfully-worded translation that shows what God demands of us. It shows our relationship with Him in a clear-cut way, without having any doubt whatsoever. At first, I wanted to give this Bible a one-star review. But, I refrained until I had developed a well-learned opinion. It gets four stars because of the powerful text, insightful notes, and beautifully extensive glossary. It did not get five stars because of the heading (ONE NEW MAN BIBLE) on the left side of the pages, which makes it hard to navigate through. Should you, the reader, buy this translation? If you're looking for a Bible with power and very insightful notes (and, if you're open minded), this Bible is an excellent addition to any library.

This Bible correlates with the KJV making it more understandable. It does not changing meanings of passages like the NKJV, ESV and others. In the NKJ, there are 22 omissions of the word hell, 44 of repent, 50 of heaven, 51 of God, and 66 of Lord, plus many changes that diminish the Deity of God. In this Bible, phrases that are hard to understand are made clear, not changed, for example

KJV 1 Corinthians, Chapter 133,"and though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor and though I give my body to be burned and have not charity, it profit me nothing."

ONMB 1 Corinthians, Chapter 133 "and I could give away all my belongings bit by bit to help the poor and if I should give over my body so that I could boast (preach) in it, but if I do not have love, I benefit nothing."

KJV Matthew 616 "Moreover when ye fast, be not as the hypocrites, of a sad countenance for they disfigure their faces, that they may appear unto men to fast. Verily I say unto you, they have their reward."

ONMB Matthew 616 "And when you fast, do not become sad like the hypocrites, for they render their faces so that fasting would be revealed to people, truly I say to you they are receiving their reward."

This Bible uses the Hebrew word translations which helps with understanding. You can crosscheck this Bible with the KJV. easily.
I love this bible! The type is crisp and black with a typical size font like you would see in a business letter. The pages are thin, and you can see the type from the other side of the page. This doesn't bother me when I put on my reading glasses. (Slipping a piece of paper between pages does not help) Using my reading glasses does solve this problem for me. The pages are too thin for writing notes in the margins or for underlining (they also crinkle very easily)the publisher has provided white paper cardstock on the inside of the front and back cover and 4 clean pages of heavy card stock allowing you 10 pages total for permanent notes in your bible.

I want to update this while it is generally difficult to follow along in church with this bible, I showed up at new bible study (I didn't know the group or go to church with any of them), I debated over which version bible to bring. This one had won out. I brought this bible and 4 people started laughing hysterically when they saw me put it down on the table, turns out that I was the 4th to show up with this bible and the others had already been telling why they loved this bible. So I was instantly welcomed and my first introduction to the group was explaining why I loved this bible over all others, and soon after 2 more people in the study group bought this version. So it is catching on.

I am really enjoying reading the glossary...

My first written note in the back of my new bible was from the GLOSSARY on the SOUL
Soul The very gift of life, the breath and vibrancy of your body. (WOW)
I learned from the glossary that the soul was not commonly thought of as the mind, will, and emotions until the 5th century. That idea was introduced into Christian doctrine by Greek philosophers.
------------------------------

We are all used to this bible version
KJV Genesis 13 And God said, "Let there be light," and there was light.
------------------------------

Example ONM--
Genesis 13 And God said, "Light Be!"(5) And there was light.(6)

Footnote
(5)(v3) This is a command God commands into existence! Each of these commands is written here as a command and highlighted in bold.
(6)(v3)The light was the aura of God until He created the sun in verses 14-19.

Preface (Some cool points to mention)

There are over 4000 footnotes throughout this bible. The glossary 170 pages describes various first century Jewish customs and explains Hebrew Scriptures, such as Leviticus 14, which on the surface is about cleansing a leper, but has a much deeper meaning. Read about it in Gossip/ Slander in Glossary.

It is important for those of us reading in the 21st century to understand what a word expression meant to those who wrote the passages in Bible times.

Do not ignore the Hebrew negative imperative! When you see 'Do not' in bold, know that the expression has no direct English translation. It is in bold to let you know that the phrase means even more than saying, "Do not even think about doing whatever is being warned." One very important statement to keep in mind is the frequent warning, Do not be in awe! In bold. It is very important for us to remember to focus on our heavenly 'father and not to be like Job (Job 324) and let fear come in.
-----------------
Example ONM-- Matthew 69-13 The Lords Prayer... It is so much more powerful in this translation.

(Be sure to read the footnote commentary immediately following the scripture. I am sure that you will see the strength and beauty of this translation.)

Matthew 69 Our Father, (2) Who is in the heavens Your name must at once be made holy

10 Your kingdom must now come Your will must be done right now, as in heaven also on Earth(3)

11 You must now give us today the things necessary for our existence (4)

12 You must right now forgive our sins for us, in the same manner as we have completed forgiving everyone of everything, big and little, against us (5)

13 And do not lead us into temptation,(6) but You must now rescue us from the evil one.'

-------------------------------
Footnotes In the same size type as the scripture. (It is meant to be read)
(2)(v9) Our Father was a common opening for prayer, based on Isa, 6316 and Hos. 111
(3)(v10) Who is here to do His will? You and I are to walk in His perfect will, with Him in each of us we are to yield to Him.
(4)(v11) The Greek word translated "necessary for our existence" is found only in Matt. 611 and Lk. 1113. This meaning is not certain. See Daily Bread in Glossary.
(5)(12)We can only speak this way to God, saying "You must...) as Y'shua is teaching, when we have covenant relationship with Him. See Sin, Forgiveness of in Glossary.
(6)(v13)This could also be translated trial.
